Swansea and District Jewish Heritage Trail

We have created a digital Swansea and District Jewish heritage trail in three parts, stretching from Llanelli to Port Talbot. You can follow the trail virtually at home on your computer or visit the sites using your mobile phone.

The trail tells the history of Swansea and district Jewish communities through over forty different locations.

In addition to descriptions and pictures, the trail includes links to collections and audio excerpts from oral histories on People’s Collection Wales.

The original Cardiff website was designed by Steven Baldwin, Neeraj Sharma and Evaldas Vilkinas, with amendments by Owain Lansdowne and Yang Yang. We are indebted to Simon Gottschalk who adapted it for Swansea.

Website content entered by Mike Hawkins and Rob Jones.

The trail was coordinated by Mike Hawkins and edited by Laura Harrison, Mike Hawkins and Klavdija Erzen.

The project was led by Klavdija Erzen and funded by JHASW/CHIDC.

We did not receive any grants to create this trail and it was funded from JHASW/CHIDC reserves. For example, the hosting website alone currently costs £6 per month.

We would like to make more trails - on Merthyr and Newport.

If you enjoyed this trail, would you like to make a donation to help us do this?
